PALLIUM EMBLEMATIZES PAPAL AUTHORITY IN BAMENDA

The unity between Pope Francis and the Archdiocese of Bamenda is now perceptible. The pallium on the shoulders of His Grace Andrew Fuanya Nkea is an emblem of papal union and authority.

The Archbishop received the pallium from Pietro Cardial Parolin, Secretary of State of the Vatican on January 31, 2021 during a Eucharistic celebration at the St Joseph Piazza Bamenda, Cameroon. 

The ceremony brought together administrative, traditional and religious dignitaries among them the president of the National Episcopal Conference His Lordship Abraham Kome and the Minister of States, Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngo, plus hundreds of Christians, priests and religious. 

Catholic teachings note that among the liturgical insignia of the Supreme Pontiff, one of the most evocative is the pallium made of white wool, symbol of the bishop as the good shepherd and, at the same time, of the Lamb Crucified for the salvation of the human race. 

The pallium is the symbol of a special relationship with the Pope and expresses besides the power, that, in communion with the Church of Rome, the metropolitan acquires by right in his own jurisdiction. According to Canon Law (canon 437), a metropolitan must request the pallium within three months of his appointment and may wear it only in the territory of his own diocese and in the other dioceses of his ecclesiastical province.

CATUC GRADUATES PIONEER PhD, 350 OTHERS AT FIFTH COVOCATION By Mildred Ndum Wung Kum Three hundred and fifty students have been absorbed into the bachelor, masters and PhD degrees at the catholic University of Cameroon - CATUC Bamanda during the fifth convocation of the institution. The ceremony began with a pontifical Holy Mass with CATUC’s Chancellor His Grace Andrew Nkea presiding. Also present among the dignitaries was the Pro Chancellor His Lordship George Nkuo, the Vice Chancellor Reverend Father Joseph Awoh and the Chancellor emeritus His Grace Cornelius Fontem Esua. FIFTH COVID-19 IMMUNIZATION TAKES OFF IN THE NORTHWEST REGION The fifth round of covid-19 vaccination campaign has been launched in the North west Region, Cameroon with eligeble persons being immunized. Northwest Governor, Adolph Lele Lafrique  presided the launching ceremony November 18, 2022 calling on stakeholders to be on frontline, ensuring everyone is protected against the virus. "I am appealing to those  who are not yet vaccinated to go to the various centers in the region. Even those who took the vaccine long ago have to renew their vaccines to be ready to fight the new wave of contamination in the region" Mr Lele L'afrique said in a press statement. At the event, the Regional Delegate of Public health for the Northwest, Dr Kingsley Che Soh detailed that the 5th wave of COVID-19 is not as devastating as the fourth wave, thanks to the introduction of the  vaccine.
