THE ROLE CATHOLIC CLERGY AND LAITY PLAYED IN ANNOUNCED NATIONAL DIALOGUE

Priests and Bishops pose for pictures at 67th BAPEC session Cameroon’s president Paul Biya announced a major national dialogue to commence as from the end of this month.  The announcement came in a speech which he addressed to the nation hinged on the throes of the socio political crisis that has gripped the North West and South West region. It is barely a week since the national dialogue was announced and the topic is animating public debates. COVID-19: RuWCED TAKES PROACTIVE STEPS IN NGOKETUNJIA  BY MILDRED NDUM WUNG KUM The Rural Women Center for Education and Development RuWCED, in its capacity to empower communities in the thirteen villages of Ngoketunjia Division, Northwest Region Cameroon invited community leaders and nurses for empowerment on managing and preventing COVID-19. Prompted by the rapid spread of coronavirus in the country and the urgency to bar it from Ngoketunjia, the women based NGO devoted extra attention on women with regards to the virus. The meeting took place at the Ndop District Hospital April 11 2020. The   facts, the myths and the safety rules regarding the novel coronavirus disease commonly called COVID-19 was presented to community leaders at the meeting.   RuWCED being an NGO with headquarter in Ngoketunjia was acting in courteous responsibility to empower inhabitants of the divisio n on the notion that charity begins at home. PAUL MBIYBE VERDZEKOV SHALL BE PROCLAIMED CANDIDATE FOR SAINTHOOD BY MILDRED NDUM WUNG KUM A pontifical Holy Mass would be celebrated on Thursday 30th January at the St Joseph's Metropolitan Cathedral Mankon,Bamenda at 9am to officially open the process of beatification for late Archbishop Emeritus of Bamenda, Paul Mbiybe Verdzekov. The Mass would be presided by the Apostolic Administrator of Bamenda Cornelius Fontem Esua. It is expected to bring together a huge number of Catholics and non Catholics including pastors and the laity to witness the beginning of the process of sainthood for Paul Verdzekov.  Saints are honoured as people who lived exemplery lives of virtue, are in heaven (triumphant church), can intercede for those living on earth (pilgrim church) as well as those in purgatory (suffering church). The saintly heritage is revered by Catholics but have also benefitted non Catholics who seek intercession of saints and who strive to mimic the saintly way of life.
