UNIVERSITY OF BAMENDA: STRIKE BEGINS DEC 4 AGAINST ATTEMPTED MURDER OF DON AND KIDNAP OF ANOTHER ON HEELS OF GROWING SECURITY CONCERNS BY MILDRED NDUM WUNG KUM A strike action by affiliates of the University of Bamenda agreed by an executive committee of the institution  shall run  Dec 4th -5th 2019. The information is  contained in a communique for a solidarity strike action. The strike is provoked by attempts to assasinate Professor Tata Simon Ngenge lecturer and Director of studies at the Higher Teacher Training College  and abduction of Dr Ami Nyoh Hycinth, lecturer and Head of Division of Administration and Finance at the Higher Teacher Training College. The incident happened Dec 3rd 2019 on the stretch of road known as Bambui Bambili C Bend.      According to the communique, the University Community was assured beefed up security during a high level meeting with the security situation of the institution on agenda. PAUL MBIYBE VERDZEKOV SHALL BE PROCLAIMED CANDIDATE FOR SAINTHOOD BY MILDRED NDUM WUNG KUM A pontifical Holy Mass would be celebrated on Thursday 30th January at the St Joseph's Metropolitan Cathedral Mankon,Bamenda at 9am to officially open the process of beatification for late Archbishop Emeritus of Bamenda, Paul Mbiybe Verdzekov. The Mass would be presided by the Apostolic Administrator of Bamenda Cornelius Fontem Esua. It is expected to bring together a huge number of Catholics and non Catholics including pastors and the laity to witness the beginning of the process of sainthood for Paul Verdzekov.  Saints are honoured as people who lived exemplery lives of virtue, are in heaven (triumphant church), can intercede for those living on earth (pilgrim church) as well as those in purgatory (suffering church). The saintly heritage is revered by Catholics but have also benefitted non Catholics who seek intercession of saints and who strive to mimic the saintly way of life.

MENCHUM DIVISION PANTING FOR EDUCATIONAL SALVATION BY MILDRED NDUM WUNG KUM Menchum, one of seven divisions of the Northwest region has in no little way been spared by the prevailing Cameroon Anglophone crisis. With the crisis raging on for four years now,  a number of establishments in the division have shut down. The educationional sector keeps the area a little boosting but at the same time attracts empathy for reasons of teaching apathy. The situation is worsened by the absence of teachers in schools against an impressive majority of school children in need of knowledge. It is the third week of the second term, 2019/2020 academic year, yet Government High School Wum with an enrollment of about 400 students has a teaching staff of less than 20.
